Shinyspace finally gets ipv6!
our ISP claims a /48 is static and free. so ours should be: 2001:1620:5291::/48
anything starting with 2001:1620:5291 should be our addresses.
the next 4 symbols are the subnet:
2001:1620:5291:0000::
2001:1620:5291:0001::
2001:1620:5291:0002::
etc..
so we should have 65'536 subnets available. nice!
our first assigned IPv6 was:
2001:1620:5291::4/64
or in full:
2001:1620:5291:0000:0000:0000:0000:0004
now this is the same subnet that the ISP router already hands out SLAAC addresses in. it is convenient, because the 0000 subnet gets shortened to nothing with our ::, but for the future we should likely choose different subnets.
